2020 Engineering Project of the Year

Goal:

The goal of the Project of the Year event is to enhance public awareness of the engineering profession and to highlight the engineering projects which benefit Maui County and its people. Projects may be submitted by both private and public agencies and/or engineering consulting firms.

Entry Information:

1. Submit entries to:

2. There may be more than one entry from each agency/company.

3. Entry Deadline: Friday, January 24, 2020 at 3:00 pm

Judging Criteria:

The criteria for selecting the Project of the Year will be based (equally) upon the:

  • Degree of Engineering Difficulty
  • Degree of Construction Difficulty
  • Environmental Considerations
  • Public Benefit

Additional consideration will be given to display presentation

Entry Submittals (4 total):

1. Project Board:

a. Will be on display at public venues within Maui County. Text height: to be legible from 3 feet.
b. Can consist of a combination of photos, written descriptions, quotes, and drawings mounted on poster board or foam board.
c. Size: no larger than 48” wide by 36” tall and 10 pounds maximum.
d. The board to include content addressing the judging criteria:

  • Degree of Engineering Difficulty
  • Degree of Construction Difficulty
  • Environmental Considerations
  • Public Benefit

2. News Release: one-page project description in the form of a news release (electronic file).
3. Photo: one JPEG or TIFF photo to represent your project for news release (electronic file).
4. PDF or JPEG of project board (electronic file)

HSPE Maui Chapter, 2020 Engineering Project of the Year

The Maui Chapter of the Hawaii Society of Professional Engineers (HSPE), in celebration of Engineers’ Week (February 16 – 22, 2022) invites you to submit an entry for the HSPE 2020 Project of the Year.

The Project of the Year competition will recognize publicly and privately- owned projects that were completed during the 2019 calendar year. Projects will be judged by a panel formed by HSPE Maui Chapter. The winning project will be featured in the Engineers’ Week section of the Maui news and honored at the Engineer’s week banquet. All project entries will be on exhibit to the public during Engineers’ Week. We encourage you to participate in this event.
